| San Clemente 52 Mission Viejo 49 After suffering 2 tough losses in the South Coast League last week, the Triton Varsity team bounced back with a 52-49 victory over Mission Viejo, improving their record to 17-9 with one regular season game to play. The Tritons controlled much of the game against Mission Viejo, but a late letdown found the Tritons down by 2 with minutes to go in the fourth quarter. However, a key rebound and free throws by Jay Baggs, along with free throws by Josh Walker, Jacob Nemeth and Anthony Smetona, sealed the game for the Tritons. Nemeth had a season high 31 points on 7 three-pointers and was 10-10 from the free-throw line. In addition to their clutch free-throws, Smetona finished with 6, Nick Martino, Walker and Baggs with 4, Kane 2, and Herbert 1. The Tritons finish South Coast League play at El Toro on Thursday. |
